“Beating Heart”
Anthurium carlablackiae x debile
Anthurium “Beating Heart” is my clone from my 2021 cross of Anthurium carlablackiae and Anthurium debile. “Beating Heart” carries a beautiful inflorescence, courtesy of its carlablackiae parent. The sub-velvet texture and the deep rich color makes this clone a standout amongst its peers. It displays great basal veining with little secondary veins, leading to the very popular ‘spidery’ look. When this plant was young, the emergent resembled an anatomically correct heart, which is how it got its name. I’m also a huge fan of Edgar Allen Poe, so the name is also a shoutout to ‘A Tell Tale Heart’ but it could also be used to describe the physiological response to seeing this plant in person.
